iT4C Announces IT Volunteer Awards 2009 Winners
iT4Communities (iT4C) announced the winners of the 2009 IT Volunteering Awards at a ceremony at The British Computer Society in London. The awards were to recognise and celebrate the best and most innovative examples of IT volunteering and projects. Trinity was nominated in the Innovation category but lost out (gracefully) to Oxfordshire based charity SpecialEffect, who are dedicated to helping all young people with disabilities to enjoy computer games.
The judges commented that Trinity's project - our own unique multi-media operating system, built entirely on Free and Open Source Software (FOSS) - was a "good use of Open Source software. A mode that can be reused and a brilliant project - a model that others can adopt".
The awards were sponsored by appiChar, A J Gallagher (UK) Ltd, BCS and Denver Technology.
